SAMAD SHIKHI - THE COUNTRY OF LEFT-HANDERS

Shafiga prepares the table and goes to Hikmet's room to wake him up. Hikmet still was not out of bed. He hears his mother's voice and opens his eyes. He nods and slowly gets up from bed. Shafiga leaves the room and looks at the clock on the wall. It was time for Fuad to come home from school. They would have lunch together. She turns to the kitchen and quickens his hand so that everything will be ready.

Hikmet gets up from his bed, goes into the bathroom, and after washing his hands, goes to the kitchen and sits down. When he sees that his mother is busy, he prepares coffee for himself. When he wants to sit down, there is a knock on the door, puts the glass on the table and sends it to open the door. It was his brother Fuad who came. The school shuttle brought him home. One shuttle was allocated for the right-hander's neighborhood and all the children staying there went to school by that bus. But this service could only be used by children who were left-handed. Children with right-handers could go to a school next to a school for left-handers, either on foot or at their own expense. Hikmet went to that school because he was right-handed. Until the 7th grade. To continue after 7th grade, you have to take a left-handed test, and after confirming that you are left-handed, you can use the privileges by getting a red passport. Otherwise, you will have to leave the 7th grade, and live with a yellow passport with certain privileges. If your child is left-handed, you will get certain privileges and aid, and your child can live like other left-handed people under the state guarantee. Hikmet was deprived of these. In general, everyone in the house except Fuad was right-handed and had to live in these conditions.

Fuad put his bag in the room and came to the kitchen.

-How are you? How was your lesson? - Shafiga asked Fuad.

- How will it pass, probably they filled their brains with "the right-handers are bad, left-handers the miraculous creatures of the world".

- Hikmet, maybe... - she lowered his tone of voice from high to low, pointing out with her hand that he should be silent.

- They took us to the circus from school. We went to the circus together. They allowed us to feed them from our own food.

- Have you ever been embarrassed? Throwing your surplus at people…

-Hikmet! Don't talk to your brother like that. What's his fault?!

- At least he should be ashamed and not be proud of such a thing. They arrest people and then exhibit them as a circus. And the only reason is that they are right-handed. Left-handers also break the rules, but do not see such an attitude at all.

-Is it your brother's fault? He was lucky, he was left-handed, we were not.

- This is the point, he was not lucky, and we are not unlucky either. There is an injustice and our rights are being trampled upon. And we are silent about it.

- Hikmet, don't talk like that. Because of these words, one day you will cause problems for yourself, for us, and for your brother.

Hikmet turned his face away without saying anything and continued to eat his food. And Hikmet understood that his brother was afraid of him because him was looking at Fuad angrily, then he softened his face a little. His mother was right. There was nothing wrong with him, but if he couldn't change him, he would become one of them in the future.

- Do not believe or follow what they say. Do not play with their personalities by creating discrimination between people.

- You better never talk to Fuad. Stay as far away as you can. Go get a job and work. I don't know, learn to write with the left hand. Look, our neighbor Sakina's son, he burned both ends of the candle, and learned. Now they have given a secretarial job in the state. His salary is twice as much as his previous job. - Shafiga was afraid of Hikmet goading Fuad. If Fuad says something wrong at school or in front of someone from the left-handers and if they complain, they could arrest him and Hikmet.

-I'll go soon. You'll give me the money.

- You are good at talking, go and earn your money. With this language, you won't find a job anywhere, and you won't have any money.

- He won't stay like this forever, he will change eventually.

-Don't hold your breath! There was no one who remembered when this system was created, and I lived like that, and my mother, my mother's mother also lived with this system. What have we seen? Do you see yourself strong? Do you think you can handle them? As soon as they see your mistake, they will catch you and throw you in jail. And your brother will visit you, maybe will throw bread.

- Your share... - Although Hikmet wanted to curse out of anger, he pull himself together and stood up. - Don't give money. I don't want.

The door was knocked loudly. In the middle of the conversation, the residents of the house, who did not wait for the knock on the door, jumped up.

-Who was it, I wonder? - Shafiga said.

Hikmet walks towards the door, looking at her mother. The door is still knocking loudly.

-Who was it?

- It's me, Namig. Help, my wife…

Hikmet opens the door.

- Help, the child is being born. But I do not know what to do. She is in pain and she's screaming nonstop.

Shafiga hears a voice and comes.

-Welcome, Come on.

- I beg you to help.

-What happened?

- Child... child is being born…

They run away together and fall into Namig's apartment. On the way, Shafiga knocks on the doors of other neighbors and calls them too. Right-handed people were not allowed to go to the hospital, so they were admitted only in case of an accident. They forbade the birth by saying that it is possible to give birth at home.

Shafiga went inside with other women, Namig should stay outside with Hikmet. Hikmet saw Namig's excitement and wanted to calm him down, but he didn't know what to say. Rather, he did not care about the birth of the child. He just had to stay here out of obligation.

Time passes, but there was no news from the inside. They were tired of waiting. Fuad also came and sat next to them. Although Hikmet sent him home, he did not go. One of the women inside came, then Shafiga came too. They were smiling. Everyone ran to them because the news had to be good.

- You had a handsome son.

- How is Nargiz?

- She is good too.

-Can I see her?

They let Namig go in first, and they followed him. He approached and looked at the child. His eyes were filled with tears. There was a piece of him in front of him. They tried to stretch the baby out and give it to his father, but he couldn't, but he couldn't.

- When he was born, he had blood in his palm.

Namig looks at the child's palm. - Clean up, please.

They laugh, Namig does not understand what they mean.

Fuad approaches and stands next to his mother. Although he wants to look the child, he hesitates to say.

Shafiga saw her son looking, brought him closer and showed the child.

- Like you, he will be left-handed-his mother stroked Fuad and was proud of her left-handed child.

Namig sighed so deeply and everyone understood that he wanted it too. He knew that if he was left-handed, there would be an aid for him, and they would see a different attitude. Although Namig's mother and father were left-handed, he became right-handed. They didn't believe that 2 left-handed people had right-handed children, even though they tried to make him write with his left hand, he did not manage to do it. Although they hid it at first after teachers learned at school, they transferred him to a school where there were right-handed people, and then directed him to work where they were. His family supported him at first, but he had to live alone after their death. After their house was taken away, they gave him an apartment in the left-handers building, and in return, he got a job in the state's production field. Although they had half their earnings, they were charged their salaries in order to pay for the house, after buying that.

Although Shafiga and Fuad went up to the house, Hikmet left the building by saying I was going. He walked away when he heard his mother's voice, “gather from meeting your friends, they will be trouble for you.” In fact, she was not wrong. The friends he was going to meet were the ones who could be problem for him, and he was no different from them. They organized themselves secretly and in order to keep their work and meetings secret, they did not tell anyone about these meetings, they did not even inform their families, even though they were right-handers, they did not inform anyone who did not know about the organization.

Only 20 people were accommodated in the apartment where they gathered. Hikmet knew 5-6 more places like this. They are not interested in places where they do not communicate and did not inform each other and if one of them is caught, they can protect the safety of the others. Their meeting would consist mainly of 2 parts. The first part was preparation for left-handedness. Here, the right-handers also accustom themselves to write with the left hand, to fully control their actions with the left. After fully using the left, they take the exam, and after passing the exam, they could change their yellow passports with red ones. This also gave them the right to use all the rights that a left-handed person belongs. The second part was between these persons. Those people shared the conversations going on in their left societies and positions which they were accepted and prepared plans for taking preventive measures. In order for no one could see the faces of left-hander workers, they came and went through a separate door, and did not go to the section where the right-handers were. The organization's coordinators communicated only with both parties and transmitted news as mediators. Sadig was the head of the organization. Although some saw him, he was a hero that others did not see. So, the story goes that he also managed to write with both hands, and even worked in an important government position. He played an important role in the decisions to ease the arrests and release of the rights. But no one knew whether it was his real name or a name that he used within the organization.

Hikmet refused to learn left-handedness and helped them in domestic affairs. Therefore, sometimes he had the opportunity to talk to some individuals who learn left-handedness and get a position. He even had an acquaintance with Sadig. He preferred not to share his presence with anyone, not to even say that he saw Sadig. Within the organization, Hikmet was highly respected both for the work he did and for his calmness. He was also involved in building relationships because he could relate to everyone. No matter how much the opposite opinion was voiced to them, he was able to listen calmly and convince them. There was someone who was not related to Hikmet who appeared in the house. He could not find freedom and sincerity at home which he saw here. Was the problem in him, he could not create the same relationship with his family, or was it in his family, he could not be someone as they wanted. He was even more annoyed by the fact that his family wanted to make him like themselves.

Kamran was one of the limited people he met from here, with whom he shared every secret. One of those whom he was able to have a heart-to-heart talk with, perhaps, he was the first one. There was nothing they could not do together. Sometimes they went out into the streets and drew a right-hand sign under the inscription “Let There Be Left, Life is Left, the World is Left.” They informed the left-hand force that there was already an organization that had done this before them. But they still did not manage to find them and reveal them.

Hikmet went home, after walking with Kamran at the exit. Normally, according to the decision they made between them, it was forbidden for them to be seen during the coming and going to the center, but they did not pay attention to it because it would not be a problem if they broke the rule once. They wanted to walk outside for a while and talk. Hikmet needed to blow off steam what he lived in the house to one person so that he could relax. He had chosen his best friend as a victim. Their conversation in the city should not be about politics. In no case, neither the discussion, nor the name of any event, nor the person should be a part of the conversation.

Hikmet came home, went to his room, laid down and leafed through his brother's books for a while. The book talked about the total power of the left, which they claimed it was true for maintaining balance, and that if the right gained power, they would cut off the hands of all lefties. That is why it was said that everyone should be left-handed so that there is no left-right problem in the middle. Being divided generates hostility. In order to prevent hostility, there must be a struggle.

Hikmet tried to remember the conversations they had between themselves. What were their desires? He remembered what Sadig had said, tried to remember the statement they had written, concepts for their future administration. They had to read there because it was impossible to take them outside due to security. The demands of the right-handers were mainly equality and the elimination of discrimination. They were not supporters of the power of the right-handers. They even knew that there would be many left-handers who would support this if they announced this platform. Because for families whose children are left-handed, for left-handed people whose parents are right-handed, this is a good offer. People will be accepted equally without dividing into left and right parts, and yellow and red passports will be canceled.

He hears a knock on the door. He continues to leaf through the book without paying attention, saying that they are probably neighbors. It was Kamran who opened the door.

Kamran…

It was understood that a tragedy had occurred from the expression on Kamran's face. Although the first thing that came to Hikmet's mind was the disclosure of organization and the beginning of arrests, Kamran's reason for coming was different.

Murad…

Murad was their arrested friend. He was arrested for organizing against leftists and coup attempts.

-Murad? What is going on?

-His house is a little further from our house. The neighbors said while talking. They brought his body.

Hikmet felt his body getting cold. A chill took over him. He was shaking.

- Is he exactly?

- Yes. I went, checked. He is.

Hikmet stood up to go, but Kamran hindered.

- No way. It's under control now. We will expose ourselves. Tomorrow will be the funeral. We'll join there.

-But... - Hikmet wanted to object but realized that Kamran's statement was justified, and was silent. - Good.

Although Kamran sat down for a while, seeing that he was neither in a mood to talk nor that Hikmet was interested in it, he said goodbye and left. Hikmet just waved him off.

Worry kept him awake until morning. He could not stop thinking about himself and Murad. What happened to him could have happened to each of them. Being in prison, dying in prison, being killed should not be taken for granted. Maybe, it was a crime. They threatened that if these activities were not stopped, others would also experience these situations.

He woke up early in the morning and went to Kamran's house. They had no desire to discuss. Both were trying to understand what they were going through. It was the first time that they were going to the funeral of one of them. Although they were not that close to Murad, he was one of them and they also had a share in his death. The number of people gathered for the funeral was more than expected. Even though they thought they were left-handed people coming to follow them when they saw strangers, but then they saw the sadness in their eyes and believed in their sincerity.

After his memory was commemorated, they put Murad in the grave and passed it on to each other when the order came to throw land on him. Hikmet cannot throw land. He passes it to a person standing after him. He does the same thing and passes it on, but before leaving, he takes out a sheet of paper and a pen from his pocket and throws it into his grave. Everyone is stopping and watching him to understand what he wants to do. Hikmet can hear his voice because he is next to him. In a low voice, "Write me a letter. Do the left-handers rule there too? What hand does God use?" he said.

They told each other that they should gather in the center and dispersed. Khadija was among those who came to the funeral, so he decided to go to the center after walking with her. He went out with her so that they would understand that he would be late.
Khadija lives in the right-hander's neighborhood, she studied at the same school with Hikmet. They went to school together, first, they became friends, and then a relationship was formed between them. But both were reluctant to give a specific name to this relationship. After finishing school, she started working as a tailor. She worked and looked after her father. Her mother died when she was in school, and her father was bedridden for 2 years. She had to take care of her father, earn money, and stay away from all troubles. If something happened to her, she could not think of her father's fate. No one would be possessed and sentenced to death would be left. There is an area like a town where left-handers were allocated to homeless people, but according to this information, various tests were carried out on them in that area. She believed that no one would come after her, even if she did, because she was not left-handed and had no privileges. That was why she was indecisive about Hikmet. She knew that Hikmet was from a secret organization like Murad. But she did not even talk to him about it. Because it would make both Hikmet and herself suspicious, and it would raise questions about where and how she learned this matter.

Although the rights had few privileges in the city, some concessions were made. For example, transport could be used by everyone. Transportation was free, just the use of children under the age of 15 belonged only to left-handers. The left-handed people calculated this for the period when the right-handed people finished school and entered the work, so that they could use it then. In addition, they had to allocate some places for the right in restaurants. They could go to the restaurant whenever they wanted. There was a restaurant near the neighborhood of the right. Hikmet and Khadija used to go and talk there. It would consist of their daily lives and their relationships with each other to see if they still have feelings for each other. Khadija was not afraid to express her fears and expectations. Because the life she lived and the life she did not want to live had made her clear. Although she did not address directly to Hikmet, she had repeatedly expressed that she would set the condition that the person to whom she was going to marry should not have any political activity, not interfere in the process. Hikmet defended Khadija by saying that she was right, but he justified those who did it. What would be the right of the right, and why shouldn't they demand their rights?

The main conversation of today's meeting revolved around Murad and ended with the puns they made to each other.

- I knew Murad. Rather, we were familiar in childhood. Then they moved, we were disconnected.

-I had no acquaintances. I have never seen it. I knew him after his arrest. But the fact that he was dead, or that he was pretending to be dead, worried me.

-You say that there is another reason behind his death? Did you go to his funeral because of this?

- Maybe.

- He knew what would happen to him in the end. Who can do what he can do. He had to live his life. What happened? Was it worth the death? You saw his family, which he left after himself. How would they live after that?

- Life seems so beautiful when I close my eyes and go to my dream world. Everything is as I want. I am the king of my own world. I can even fly if I want to. As soon as I open my eyes, hell begins. Heaven and hell are as far as the blink of an eye. The door in between is our eyelids. For constant happiness, it seems, I have to close my eyes forever. Or when I open my eyes every morning, I will look for an excuse to be able to live in my dream world for another 5 minutes. Maybe, Murad, could not see the world he dreamed of, but he will be able to live the dream of a lifetime.

- I wish I could romanticize death as much as you. I would accept more easily

- The more meaningful it is to live, the more meaningful death should be. We exist as "1 person" in the world, we die, and that number drops to 0, our place is transferred to someone else.

- It's easy to talk.

Hikmet understands that speaking is meaningless. What he would say next could cause trouble for himself.

-I had a place to go, can we get up?

Khadija understood that the conversation hurt Hikmet. They smiled, apologized and left the restaurant. After going a little together, they parted ways. Hikmet hastened his steps, entered the side streets, lost track, and went to the center. He stopped many times, looked back, and thought that he had seen the people he saw before. After making sure that he was not tracked, he entered. Until he left, everyone gathered and finished the main part of the conversation. The participants involved were determined. It was time to start mass protests, and they had to do it as widely as they could. The plan will be prepared in a short time and there will be divisions about what and how to do it. Although they will try to be as calm as possible, they will take steps according to the principle "everything is allowed where there is no escape".

Hikmet was overwhelmed by excitement. They came to the end of the road. They wanted to fly and stood by the cliff. They would open their arms and jump, or fly, or this attempt would be the end of them.

3 days later thousands of people flocked to the square without any notice. Without realizing what was happening, the entire city was engulfed in mass protests by the right. Although Sadig is at the head of organizations, he still hid his own identity. Voices filled the square with slogans such as "Your right is my left", "You are not guilty of being left-handed", "Even if the sentence starts on the left, the sentence ends on the right", and the resistance started slowly. The security agencies, which were seen from afar, tried to suppress the protesters in a mass manner so that they could catch them one by one and take them away. If they could divide the crowd into 2-3 parts, it would be easier to disperse. They would do nothing if there was no strong resistance against them, but if there was violence, they agreed to do the same. So, it was. When they intervened to break up and started to push, they also came closer and started pushing the left-handed groups. The left-handers, who were left in the crowd, realized that they are hoist with their own petard, and when they tried to get out, they wanted to be tough again, and at that time they were knocked down by the fists of the people around them. And those who observed it on the sidelines came together for support, but faced the same reaction and tried to disperse it from the outside. This time, in order to save some of the people they were able to take away, they were able to escape from the hands of the protestors who jumped on them only by running away. What happened inspired the protesters even more. They did not know how and where to end the protest. Because when they would disperse, they would catch them one by one. They had no more privacy left. As a result, they would not leave the street without their resistance yielding results.

On the second day of the protest, instead of decreasing, they began to increase. Although they wanted to wait for them to disperse first and then arrest them, they realized that this was a wrong move and tried to increase the number of people they sent over them, but there were those who joined this protest from the right and those who supported this protest from the left. The people who had doubled in size had managed to create fear by spreading to all parts of the city. On the second day, in order not to create a big mess, they increased the resistance and tried to persuade them to disperse, but it didn't work. The days gradually increased. They said they were ready to talk and listen to their problem. A 5-member delegation from the right side was accepted for negotiations. Everyone outside was discussing what they would say, whether they would come at all.

Requirements:

- Arrested right-handed people will be released,

-No one will be discriminated against for being right-handed,

- There will be no pressure or arrest on those who participated in the protest, - The current government will give up power and be elected in the event of an election.

If these prerequisites were accepted, they would stop the protest.

Although 3 hours had passed, there was still no one who came out. They wanted to do something because they were afraid that disaster would befall them, but they were afraid that the action they would take would put them in an even more difficult situation. They decided to wait a little longer. They came out after 20 minutes. It was impossible to understand anything from their faces.

"I say the result of the denunciations. Our agreement was partial. Arrested persons will be tried again and those arrested for being right-handers will be released. No one will be arrested or harassed for joining here. Negotiations on the election will continue and the ground will be created for this in the next stages. They said that they could not agree to it now due to the lack of management experience and completed education of the right-handers. Bans on right-handed people will also be discussed.
Everyone raised his hand and showed his joy by shouting. They considered it a victory. And those who understand from the inside that this is not a victory, calmly observe what is happening, thinking about the next step. Although Hikmet was not satisfied with the decisions, he was happy. His comrades who were imprisoned will be released, because he is right-handed, no more danger will await them. If they were also given the opportunity to study, they would continue and work for a position in government work.

The square began to be slowly emptied. Everyone tried to go home and share this news. Hikmet decided to go to the center before home. But then he thought it was more correct to go home. Although he told the house, he knew they were worried. The sooner he went home, the sooner his fights ended, the sooner his life would be saved. As he fled, their anger would increase.

He was met at home by his mother. Although he waited shouting, his mother greeted him in a calm tone of voice and told her to come inside. She went to the kitchen, saying, wash your hand, come and eat. She was hurt and in a hurt state she would talk about it for a day. Knowing his mother's character, Hikmet thought that he would have to settle for his father today and smiled. At least he would fight for a day with each other. But the victory they won gave him strength. His family would also benefit from his struggles as a winner.

He tried not to talk too much with his mother, waiting for her to break the truce. When his father arrived in the evening, he met more differently. When he wanted to leave, his father calmly told him to sit down, leaving him alone in the room and went inside. After 5 minutes, he returned and sat down and looked at his son.

- How did it go?

- You probably got the news.

- Yes. They made your wishes come true. Now you are free people.

- We went out not only for us, but also for us. - he also said, pointing to his mother and father.

- Yes, you have thought of us, but you have forgotten your brother.

What's the connection?

Elchin took an envelope out of his pocket and handed it to Hikmet. Seeing the envelope in her husband's hand from a distance, Shafiga approached excitedly so that she could find out what was happening.

-What is it?

- Your literacy is more, read and we will learn.

Hikmet's heart beat increased with excitement. I wonder what was inside the envelope. He took the paper out of the envelope and began to read. In the text, they wrote that the help they allocated was cut off because their children were left-handed, as they contradicted the principles of left-handedness, and they were worried about the fate of Fuad. They mentioned that a commission will be appointed regarding him and that they will receive news soon.

-How is your victory?

- What did he write?

-You say?
Hikmet's body was frozen.

- Would you say that or not? - Shafiga started to scream out of excitement.

-Short explanation, thanks to Hikmet we are already blacklisted. They stopped the aid, maybe took Fuad away from us.

- What did I tell you? Didn't I tell you not to go out there, they will cause problem, and you will get yourself and us in trouble? Are you happy now? What will happen if they take your brother away from us? If they were helping us, we will be deprived of it now. Maybe they will arrest you too. - Shafiga released all her anger. She couldn't hold herself back. Her eyes filled with tears as he spoke. If he was not her child in front of her, but someone else, maybe she would strangle him because he did it to them.

- You will probably be arrested after the situation calms down. Who was the last time you went to his funeral? Was it Murad? Make a place for yourself next to him. - Elchin looked at his son, sighed, and got up.

Hikmet thought that he should not break down in front of these words. Perhaps they could take advantage of their calm and counterattack, but if they regrouped and attacked, they could achieve more results. It was fun with all the participants.

Sooner or later, this will happen.

-If we don't starve.

- I will choose to live with this cowardice, starve and die, rather than be silent. Go tell them that you have given up on me, and I am no longer your child. Maybe they will pity us and give our money back. They will not leave you without rewards.

-Are you both guilty and shamelessly saying these words? Go to your room before I beat you - Elchin shouted and kicked Hikmet out of the room.

Other protesters were also pressured in the same or different ways. This irritated everyone. The number they feared before had increased many times over. Left-handed people also participated here. The fact that the right did not conduct “anti-left-handed” propaganda and called for equality could attract the right-handers to their side. Although there were right-handed people in the family, those who had no right-handed relatives also participated in this protest. The scale of protests is increasing, the resistance could not be broken. It was impossible to cope with them. After a certain point, civil protest was replaced by aggressive protest. They reacted with an excess of aggression and behaved harshly regardless of who they were. Hikmet left the house and never returned home. While leaving, he said to his mother, "Relax, I'm leaving your life, I won't cause any more problems for you." Although Shafiga's anger cooled and she tried to bring him back, Hikmet left the house and quickly disappeared. After that, they could not make any contact.

The protests took almost 20 days, and they finally left on full demand, not incomplete. The day was set for the election, and Sadig did not need to hide. It was necessary to conduct his propaganda and prepare him for the elections. It was supposed to become famous, not hide.

The left-handers did not stand idle either. They wanted to influence the right-handed people, arguing that Sadig was left-handed and held an important position in the government and this was not a right-handed revolution. Although those who were organized knew the truth, there were people from outside who believed in this propaganda. They did not want to go over the news because they had not yet noticed the second important factor for the election process. Otherwise, they would bring out members of the organization who were first right-handed and then left-handed, so that they would be left out during the election.

Election day came and everyone was impatiently waiting to see how it would turn out.

-Today everything will end

- It is so difficult. We will lose, but still our rights will be partially restored.

-I do not believe. After so much resistance, we will not be defeated

- The regime which knows that it will lose will never go to the elections.

It was known that there would be fraud during the election, but no one thought that they would add fraud to the fraud. While they wrote the GOP on the ballots and threw them away, during the vote counting, the votes given to Sadig were too many, and they were forced to count the votes, unable to hide them. Other right-handers, whom the organization infiltrated among the left-handers, added fraud to the fraud, wrote Sadig instead of those who did not show up, took the paper from the left-handers who wrote the GOP, changed it with Sadig and threw it into the box.

Everyone was waiting for the result of the votes. Time was not passing. Because they realized their situation too late, they couldn't change anything, and they also didn't know who they were. In the end, they made a list of all later left-handed people and kept them aside. But it did not benefit again. They had to accept that Sadig had won. Because they could not expose the right-handers who were among those who counted the votes. The GOP regime was over and a new era was already beginning. Everyone was showing up and celebrating it. Those we knew and those we didn't know were hugging each other who were crying with joy. Left-handers had a fear. Would right power change anything, or would they stick to their promises of equality?

Although in the morning everyone opened their eyes with joy, this joy did not last long. An event had happened that they had overlooked out of joy. Sadig was found dead in his home. The news spread at the speed of light. After the lord mayor's show, everyone coughed and went out into the square again. The left-handers said that they were unaware of the incident and that it was just a coincidence. In addition, they said that the election will no longer be counted. Because the person who won the election was dead.

People's faith was already dead. Because their leaders were dead and all their plans were revealed. They had no backup plans as they focused on winning by putting all their plans into action. Also, it will not be easy to choose a single candidate after Sadig. This in itself would take time. The arrest of some protestors at the demonstration already indicated that worse days were ahead of them.

All protesters gathered at Sadig's funeral. He was given a lavish burial worthy of his name. After the ceremony, it was necessary to gather and make a decision. But their broken hopes and beliefs did not allow them to come up with anything. Each had accepted defeat. But even if it was the end, it had to be a dignified end.

-I have an opinion, I just do not want to recommend it to anyone. I will do it just myself. - a voice broke the silence.

- Say, maybe we did too.

-I don't believe anyone would want to do this.

- Say, we make the choice

- I'll cut off my left hand.

There was a silence. Everyone first wanted to describe how it would happen and what would happen after you do it.

- What is the goal? What do you mean by doing this?

-They don't want to make us left-handed by force? Do they not show the supremacy of left-handedness? Well, I'll solve it radically too.

-I will too. -a voice came from outside.

- Me too. - one more voice.

With one more sound, the sounds of “me too” spread everywhere.

-I ask you to take into account the consequences and pain of this first.

As much as those who accepted it, so were those who did not. No one could blame them for their choice. No matter how protesting a person was, he did not want the same from everyone in such a place.

They calculated from the doctors among them how they could do it with the least pain. 200 people had agreed at the first stage and the doctors began to execute it. They watched with tears as their hands were cut off. Although they reduced his pain, the spiritual separation did not leave them. Although the left hand enslaved them, it was not easy to refuse it. Because it was part of them, and without it their existence would not be complete.

One-handed protesters could no longer be guided by a left-handed policy. No one could tell them to be left-handed by force.

Among the handless protesters was Hikmet. Seeing that his life had no importance left, he simply set himself the goal of being there for his struggles, if necessary, to die on this path. Together they appeared to be the first to come out, but this trip is one-handed. They raised their left arms to the sky, showing that they had been cut off, and this is how they expressed their protest. No one knew what would happen after that.
